Barcelona vs Shakhtar kick-off time & stadium

Date: October 25, 2023

Kick-off time: 5:45 pm BST

Venue: Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium

The UEFA Champions League match between Barcelona and Shakhtar Donetsk will be played at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, Spain.

It will kick off at 5:45 pm BST on October 25 in the United Kingdom (UK).

Xavi has not named all of Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Pedri, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha for Shakhtar's visit.

Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal recovered from their niggles to feature in the Athletic win, where Ronaldo Araujo also came off the bench, with the trio expected to start against Shakhtar.

Marc Guiu will be raring to play his first-ever Champions League game after his dream debut on Sunday.

Stav Lemkin will continue to remain sidelined, while Valeriy Bondar returned from his knock in Saturday's game and is set to keep his place at the back.

Meanwhile, Shakhtar interim Darijo Srna will bank on Danylo Sikan to deliver the goods upfront.

Olímpic Lluís Companys Stadium is set to host the exciting mid-week matchup between home side FC Barcelona and visiting club Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday in UEFA Champions League group stage action. The hosts head into the week as the top-ranked club in the Group H standings with six points out of their first two matches of the first phase of the competition.

Xavi Hernández's squad opened the campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Antwerp on Sep. 19 at home thanks to goals from João Félix (two), Robert Levandowski, Jelle Bataille (own goal) and Gavi. The 5-0 finish was Barcelona's biggest UCL win since beating Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 in the second leg of the round of 16 in the 2016-17 campaign. The Spanish giant then travelled to Dragão Stadium on matchday two of the tournament.

In Portugal, a Ferran Torres finish just before halftime is all the club needed to secure all three points against Porto on Oct. 4. Torres' goal was the first time a Barcelona player has ever scored a first half goal as a substitute in a UEFA Champions League match, following Lewandowski's injury in the 27th minute.

Don't miss the matchup between FC Barcelona and Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday in UEFA Champions League action.

New Shakhtar Donetsk boss Marino Pusic will attempt to become the first manager to take points off Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League this season when his side pursue an upset in Spain on Wednesday.

Barcelona's injuries are at a season high coming into this match, with worries of a similar situation in three days for El Clasico. Pedri is out injured, as are Lewandowski, Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong, Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto.

To make matters worse here, Gavi is suspended after he was sent off in the dying minutes of the previous victory over Porto.

All the injuries and suspensions have forced young academy products Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, and Marc Guiu into action earlier than many expected. The three teenagers all got game time over the weekend in some capacity and are likely to do so again here.

Georgiy Sudakov is the latest young Shakhtar star destined for a top five European league. The 21-year-old has yet to score in the Champions League in his young career, but after hitting for five goals and eight assists last year in the league, the young Ukrainian has two goals through the first six Premier Liga matches of the season.

After a short break, more Champions League action is set to kick off on Wednesday. Shakhtar Donetsk will hit the road to play their first game against Barcelona in the Group Stage at 12:45 p.m. ET at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. While all four teams are eyeing the Round of 16, only the top two teams in the group (Group H) will make it there.

Shakhtar Donetsk and Royal Antwerp combined for 14 shots on goal on October 4th, which explains the impressive five total goals scored. Shakhtar Donetsk beat Royal Antwerp by a goal, winning 3-2. The last goal Shakhtar Donetsk scored came from Danylo Sikan in minute 76.

Meanwhile, Barcelona never let their opponents score on October 4th. They won by a goal and slipped past Porto 1-0. Barcelona were also a bit limited on offense, with their lone goal coming courtesty of Ferran Torres in minute 45.

With both squads competing for one of the most prestigious honors in soccer on Wednesday, it's safe to say the stakes are high. There's only one way to know which team cracks under pressure and which rises to the occasion.

An injury-plagued Barcelona limp into a critical stretch of games as they host Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donestk in Spain on Wednesday in the Champions League group stage.

The Catalan club are without both young midfield stars Gavi and Pedri for this match, while forwards Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha are sidelined as well. While they managed to grind out a quality 1-0 victory over Athletic Club on the weekend, the gauntlet continues here – with El Clasico looming not far off in the distance on Saturday.

Shakhtar are positioned well in the Ukrainian league table, sitting third but with a game in hand – and they remain in the mix for a Champions League knockout place as well, with three points from their first two games.

A Barcelona win here would give them a perfect nine points from the first half of the group stage and set them up nicely for a Round of 16 spot. But a slip-up would create unneeded chaos over the next few days knowing the injuries could prove even more devastating ahead of the clash with Real Madrid.
